Can we call Sarkodie a Prophet for a statement he made about his life years ago which actually came to pass?
Years ago, the award winning rapper in a short video spotted by EonlineGhana.Com prophesied that he will win a Grammy and BET award someday.
He was heard in the video saying
“Maybe you will see Sarkodie in the Grammy’s and the BET’s”
However, in 2012 he won the Best International Act: Africa category at the BET Awards thereby naturalizing the prophecy.
Taking to his facebook page, the most decorated rapper in Ghana wrote
“Damn Man been through Some hard Times … proud of myself 👊🏾 Thank You SarkNation and oh that was a prophetic statement right there BET .. God thank you 🙏🏾😊”
Even though he hasn’t won a Grammy yet, it is evidently true that he is not far from getting the nod since he is one of Ghana’s greatest exports in music.
The video snippet is part of a short documentary dubbed “HIPLIFE; The Movement Documentary” which is an exciting documentary film that covers the transformation of music in West Africa that was birthed in Ghana as a fusion of American hip-hop beats with Ghanaian highlife music. It’s an artform that transformed how Ghanaian youth embraced modern break-beats with the traditional highlife music that had been popular for decades.
The documentary features some pioneers of the music genre such as Gyedu Blay Ambulley, Reggie Rockstone, Okyeame Quophi, Agya Koo Nimo and more.
