In 1999, at the age of 40, Maurizio Sarri ditched his work as a banker and fully transitioned into coaching. What a rise it has been for the banker turned football coach.

Maurizio Sarri has taken over the Stamford Bridge hot seat. The 59-year-old replaces compatriot Antonio Conte who was given the boot on Friday.

Sarri says he wants to bring entertaining football to Chelsea after he signed a three-year deal. Sarri who led SSC Napoli to two second-place finishes in his 3 seasons at Naples relishes his newly found challenge.

He said “It is an exciting new period in my career. I hope we can provide some entertaining football for our fans and that we will be competing for trophies at the end of the season, which is what this club deserves.”

He is Chelsea’s 13th manager since Roman Abramovich took control of the club in 2003.
