“Kumawood Is Dying” – Nana Ama Mcbrown Cries Out And Gives Reasons For That

Multiple award winning Kumawood actress, Nana Ama McBrown, has expressed worry at the near-death state of the Twi-speaking movie industry fondly known as Kumawood.

Speaking to Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, the actress disclosed that the mass eviction that took place at Kejetia affected the market as the CD sellers who used to buy their movies had no place to sell the CDs to potential customers.

She said: “Those days, I could have as many as four different scripts in a month, but it’s not like that anymore.”

Giving a possible reason for the odd development, she said, “Now everything is on social media. There is Netflix and all that. Maybe we need to upgrade. This is not the time to give up.”

She was however sanguine, “Are they ready to shoot that kind of movie that will go far? If we do a good movie, we can get the money back. It has gone down but we shouldn’t blame anyone.”
